Hey there, We have a rescue ferret who's approximately 3 - 4 years old. We found out a while ago that he has a mast cell tumor. Our vet assured us that this is a very common thing and removal wasn't all that necessary. I was wondering how I clean the wound. When he plays with our other ferrets the tumor get bitten and then bleeds, presently he has a chunk of dried blood on his back. Can I used antiseptics or soap and water, and is something like A

Yes, gently cleaning with warm water or a mild soap should be fine. But aggressive cleaning might remove the scab and it will bleed again. The mast cell tumors release histamine which can cause it to itch, scratch and bleed. As long as the lesion remains small and doesn't bleed too much, you can wait and monitor. The surgery itself is very simple and quick and they heal well. Good luck.
