Is Excedrin safe for dogs? My dog seems fine after taking it.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 45 lbs

I gave my dog a migraine Excederine pill. He's is happy, can come up the stairs and there do not seem to be any bad effects. He's a lot more active and playful. The dosage was 1 pill one day... and another one pill 2 days later

It is not recommended that you give your dog this medication. Excedrin Migraine has three ingredients: Acetaminophen, Aspirin and Caffeine. None of which are good for dogs. Acetaminophen and aspirin should definitely NOT be given together to dogs. This can cause severe gastrointestinal issues (often times perforating stomach/intestinal ulcers which can they die from). ( https://www.petcoach.co/article/acetaminophen-tylenol-toxicity-in-cats-and-dogs/ ) ( https://www.petcoach.co/article/aspirin-toxicity-in-dogs-and-cats/ ) If Dingo needs an anti-inflammatory medication for some underlying medical reason you should be getting medication from your vet that is made for dogs as they have less side effects (ie: carprofen, meloxicam, galliprant). Please don't continue to give this medication. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
