Is it safe to give my dog carprofen and prednisone at the same time?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 26 days old | 86 lbs

My dog was prescribed caraprofen yesterday for an injury to his leg. He also seems to be having an allergic reaction to something and has lumps all over his body. Our old vet gave use a prescription for the lumps (prednisone?) and I was wondering if it was safe to give him both medications?

No, it is not safe to give them both at the same time. Please do not give Buster that second medication. You can give your vet a call to see if they feel an OTC medication may help him. Best of luck.
