My dog fell. Why is she avoiding jumps and her leg feels asleep?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 50 lbs

My 3 y/o female Pitt was rolled down 3 concrete steps by my 18 m/o male Pitt. She sometimes acts as if her left is asleep. Since this incident, she hasn't been leaping and bounding. That was her thing. She is avoiding jumping on the bed and into the truck (Mercury mountaineer). How long does bruising take to heal? Help please, this is my baby girl. Thank you.

Poor Malia! I'm concerned this could be more than bruising. It could be that she has torn a ligament or potentially fractured a bone. She is showing you she is in a lot of pain if she is avoiding jumping on the bed and into the truck. I would take her into the vet this weekend or first thing Monday. The vet can determine was is causing her pain, and can treat that as well as prescribe pain medications. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck.
