Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female
My momma cat had five healthy kittens. They are five weeks old this week. Momma cat did not have enough milk to feed the babies. I have been bottle feeding them for about two weeks now. I feed one tonight and when it finished eating it starting gasping for air. I quickly picked the kitten up and it started to bite me and wouldn't stop gasping for air...the baby has died..I tried to revive it but it was too late. Blood and access milk is coming out of its mouth. Could I have done something wrong?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do not think you did anything wrong but that this was a freak aspiration of the milk down the wind pipe (trachea). I would start weaning all the kittens now. Mix the formula in to canned kitten food and offer the bottle less and less. I recommend starting bottle fed kittens on kitten food starting at 3 weeks. I am so sorry this happened
