Why is my dog's testicle skin black, crusty, peeling, and red?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 25 lbs

My dog, messiah, is a retriever mix (1yr) and i noticed his skin on hos testicles is black crusty amd peeling off. He doesnt seem to be in pain but the skin underneat looks red and irratated. What coukd it be? He jad parvo as a puppy amd survived. He also had a parasite when he had parvo. Other than that ne has been healthy.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Messiah! It looks as though he either has a scrotal infection or is having a contact reaction or suffered a burn or trauma to the scrotum. If he is licking them excessively he needs to wear an E-collar. I would use a triple antibiotic ointment on the scrotum twice daily. If there is no improvement over the weekend have him seen by your Vet next week. Good luck

    The best way to diagnose this is to take Whitey into the vet. He could have contact something corrosive causing his skin to peel off, or her could have a bad infection. I would have him seen by a vet today.

It sounds as though something has caused damage to the skin of his testicles or the area is not getting proper circulation. This is very concerning and should be addressed by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Oh goodness! I am not sure, you probably know better, if the black pigmented areas are normal on his scrotum. If not that looks like tissue necrosis from vasculitits, frost bite, burn, insect bite or self trauma (orchiditis). I would take Toby in to the Vet before the weekend. If he is licking then he needs to wear an E-collar to prevent continued self trauma. I wish you the best

Ive noticed a large scab on my dogs testicles
This often happens when dogs excessively lick their testicles, then the skin gets infected and scabs over. I suggest you keep him from licking ( you can put an e-collar on him or a t-shirt or a baby jump suit, if you have one, and then take him to a vet this coming week for an exam. He may need antibiotics for the skin infection.

My dog balls are peeling and bleeding I wanna what's could be the cause and what can I do to help it
I've seen this one time, and it was a hunting dog that I suspect had a disease transmitted from a tick. Tick diseases can cause vasculitis, which means inflammation of the small blood vessels. It's not uncommon for the scrotum to be affected, as the blood supply there isn't great. Sometimes we also see it on the tips of the ears. This could be an infectious problem (from a tick bite as mentioned above) or an auto-immune problem. Also can't rule out plain old trauma, like running around in a field with prickly grasses and the like. Get him checked out to rule out serious illness, and to get some relief for what I'm sure is a painful condition.

It sounds like he could have a bacterial skin infection and may need an antibiotic. Have your vet take a look at him to determine the cause and prescribe medications to treat. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or corticosteroid to help. You could aslo bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo, like Epi-soothe, to see if that helps.

I have male gsd 2 and a half year old..his scrotum is red,itchy and there is pain...it looks as if there are cuts...what can be the cause n please suggest remedy as well
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Allergies can cause this or some type of irritant as well. If he has been constantly licking at this area he could have certainly caused this. I would recommend placing a cone around his head and using a topical medication called malacetic conditioning spray and apply 2 to 3 times per day until resolved. If there is no improvement I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns

I was cleaning my dogs paws from his walk and this caught my eye. I’ve never noticed it until now. It looks like some sort of rash on his testicles, it’s only on one spot.
Yes, it looks like scrotal dermatitis. I suggest you use these medicated pads on the scrotum 1-2 times per day. If after using the pads for about 5 days it is not looking better then he should see your vet. My dog choppies has a problem around his balls..always scratching and licking them..it looks likke a bad burn..now thhe skin is dark and starting to peel..please help..photos are enclosed
Hello there and thank you for posting your picture and concern about Choppies! From the picture you sent, it looks like Choppies has caused quite a bit of irritation and inflammation on his scrotum. I would pick up a plastic cone from the pet store to put around his head so that he is not able to lick this and then get him in to see your veterinarian for an examination. There are multiple possible causes of this, which include thermal burn, inflammation of structures inside the scrotum causing Choppies to lick due to the discomfort, infection or behavioral. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It's hard to clearly make out the picture of his testicles. But it isn't abnormal for dogs to have freckles or pigmentation on their testicles. The scrotum is just like regular skin, if the animal is white with spots the scrotum can have spots. As for the spots on his belly, they could be evidence of a mild skin infection. A pustule that popped and left a crusty ring. If he only has those 2-3 spots and isn't excessively licking or scratching, you can try a medicated shampoo. Bathe him 2-3 times per week and leave the lather on the affected areas for 10 mins before rinsing. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. So sorry that Chicken is having this issue. This is what is called scrotal dermatitis - an infection of the skin of the scrotum due to high moisture. You can treat this at home. 1. Make sure his environment is always clean and dry. 2. Get this topical spray hydrogel and apply it to the affected area 2-3 times per day until healed. If he starts to lick the scrotum, the problem will get worse or may not heal. He needs to wear it until the scrotum is back to normal.
