Pregnant dog stopped eating, leaking milk. Is she close to labor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 130 lbs

Our pregnant Great dane has stopped eating, and is leaking milk. However her temperature has been staying around 99.8-100.6. She is clingy and leaking some fluid, but isnt nesting. She just wants to sleep on my bed. She gets up and lays down pretty often, and her womb appears to have dropped. Is she close to labor?

Hello. It sounds like she is close. Typically milk leakage is seen in the final few days, but it can begin as long as 7-10 days prior. It would possibly help if you had an exact breeding date in order to count days of gestation. Typically, dogs are pregnant for 63 days, but some can go as long as 65 days.
