What causes pet seizures? Is idiopathic epilepsy genetic or a disease?

Is a seizure caused by a disease such as kidney disease idiopathic epilepsy? Or is idiopathic epilepsy a genetic problem?

Seizures can be caused by trauma, infection, toxins or even tumors. Certain types of seizures may have a genetic component. Idiopathic seizures are seizures that have no identifiable underlying cause.
