Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! If he is otherwise ok then he should be fine until the morning. It isn't uncommon for blood to appear in diarrhea. It indicates inflammation in the colon. Causes of diarrhea are: intestinal parasites (so bring fresh stool sample), viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion (ate something gross), HGE (hemorrhagic gastro-enteritis), pancreatitis, food allergy or intolerance, reaction to a new treat/food/table food. I wish you the best

Oh no poor puppy! You are right that changing food too quickly can cause these issues, and the problem here is that he is vomiting, has diarrhea, and now has bloody stool. Even though he's acting normally, his symptoms need to be checked out by a vet immediately. Please take him into one now to get these treated. Best of luck.

It sounds like Diesel has diarrhea, and the spotting of blood could be due to irritation of the GI tract. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, you still see blood in his poop, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.

Because Cooper is a puppy the diarrhea may be due to intestinal parasites, infection , bacterial overgrowth, or eating something that upset his stomach. You can try offering Cooper a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to see if this settles his stomach. However, if the diarrhea lasts longer than 24 hours or is accompanied by decreased appetite, vomiting, or lethargy then he should be examined by a veterinarian. If the diarrhea persists he may need prescription medication and fluids to prevent dehydration. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Cooper is feeling better soon!
