My dog chews up toys instantly. Is this normal, or should I stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 77 lbs

Should I stop my dogs from chewing and destroying their toys? Everytime I give them a new toy, within minutes, it’ll be broken.

Some dogs enjoy tearing toys apart more than playing with them and I think as long as you don’t mind it’s okay for them to play this way. You should however always supervise them to make sure they’re not ingesting pieces of the toys. If they are you should take the toys away.
