My vet approved Robitussin for cat cough. What's the dosage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 7 days old | 6.3 lbs

I was advised that I’m able to give my cat Robitussin for his cough by my veterinarian. However, I wasn’t informed of how much and often and I’m unable to reach them at the moment. How much Robitussin DM (without acetaminophen or other pain killers) am I allowed, or should give him, and at what schedule? Thank you!!

You should contact your vets office for a recommendation as we are not in a position legally to give out dosages. In order to do legally so we would have to have a patient-veterinarian-owner relationship with you. Your veterinarian also knows your dog and the potential risks for your dog receiving this medication.
