My kitten's paw pads are infected after antibiotics. Is it an allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 lbs

My 8 week old kitten seems to have an infection only on his pads. He just finished a round of antibiotics of doxycycline for 5 days for upper respiratory infection a few days ago. Gave him a bath week ago and this was not there. Cleaned and bandaged and next day removed bandage and that is what first picture is. They was told to let cat heal on own so left open and filled with gunk (second pic) third picture is just today when I cleaned all four paws two are really bad. Could be an allergy??

Hi. No this isnt appearing like an allergy. This is something that doesn't seem to be fully responding to antibiotics. I think the litter is also affecting the healing. I recommned a recheck with your veterinarian, a stronger more broad antibiotic, and special litter called yesterday's news for 21 days. Good luck
