My 5-month-old puppy has a circular skin patch peeling and oozing.

Pet's info: Dog | Jagdterrier | Male | neutered | 5 months and 8 days old | 19 lbs

My jagd terrier, 5 months old, has a concerning skin irritation. It started as a patch of dry skin, kind of like a patch of sap was harder on his skin, but there was no sap. A few days later it became harder and the edges started to peel up and puss a bit. His entire layer of fur/skin is wanting to flake off in that area, the size of a quarter. It is circular, oval shaped.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Was he recently under anesthesia for surgery? It looks like it could be a burn. Unfortunately as much as we try the warning devices can cause a burn that doesn’t show up for several days. Or could he burned himself on something? Another possibility is a hot spot. I’d take him in to you vet to have it checked. I wish you the best!
