My dog choked on a treat, then coughed it up. Should I be concerned?

Hi there, I gave my larger dog a small dog treat. He didn’t appear to chew it properly and I think it was stuck in his throat. He started to gag and I panicked so I slightly lifted him up, he coughed up a very small bit of chewed treat but seems to be ok now. I tried to get him to have some water but he wouldn’t and he is now lying on my bed. Should I be worried?

Dogs that have something stuck in the larynx or the trachea will continue to cough, gag and have difficulty breathing. It sounds to me like you took care of the problem and I wouldn’t be concerned as long as Vito is acting normal.
