My cat was recently neutered. Is a scratch near the surgery site okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 months and 7 days old | 7 lbs

Hello, my name is Zara; my 6 months old cat (Nunu) got neutered on Tuesday 10/2. I noticed a kinda of scratch around the spot of the surgery. I check every day and I don't think it was ever there. I took him to the vet this morning and she said it's fine that's from the surgery. I'm still worried. I have attached a picture of what I'm seeing. Is this really ok?? Please advise and I would really appreciate it.

Hi Zara! Thank you for providing a picture of Nunu! From the pictures, it looks fine to me, and since you have seen his vet and she also says it's fine, I would not be worried about it. I don't see any sign of infection. I hope this helps!
