My dog has a funny leg and a smirking face. Is it congenital?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 7 months old

I'm not sure what kind of congenital deformity my dog has. I read a few Q&A here about luxation and dysplasia. Her right hind leg is like that, but she can walk and run around. We also noticed she seems to be smirking, as if she has facial hemiparesis. No problems with barking/eating/senses. Vet never said anything significant about her condition. Just want to know what it is called since her face is also affected. Thank you!

This is a beautiful puppy. It may have been born that way and if your veterinarian did not find any condition that impedes its life, I would not worry about it. Nobody is perfect and animals can also not be perfect. She is beutiful and that is all that counts.
