My dog choked on a rawhide piece and swallowed it. Will he be okay?

Zeus was chewing on some rawhide. A small piece got stuck in his throat and he was choking. He swallowed it before I could get it out. Is he going to be okay? He scared me so much! Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 28 days old | 10 lbs

I am sorry to hear about Zeus! Hopefully this piece is small enough it will pass through the GI tract without issue. I would recommend giving him a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin with his food the next few days to increase his fiber intake and hopefully aid in easy pooping! You do want to monitor for signs of obstruction which include vomiting, decreased appetite and energy level, and abdominal pain. If any of these symptoms occur seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Best of luck to you and Zeus!
