my dog is 51 days pregnant and i started taking her temp yesterday and it was 99.0 at 4:30pm and 99.8 at 11am today and 99.8 at 8pm tonight she still has some time should i be worried? other then the temp shes not acting any differently. im seeing so many different gestation periods when googling stuff from 56 to 63 to 58-70 days she has an appointment this coming friday with the vet. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 75 lbs

At 51 days you still have a week of anticipation. Gestation in dogs is 56 to 68, in rarest cases 70 days. The average is 63 to 65 days, which means most dogs will whelp between 63 and 65 days. Do keep your appointment with the vet as you may want some x-rays done to know how many puppies your dog will have. This will take a lot of worrying away as you know when whelping is done. Do not rely on temperatures, it works in some dogs and does not in others.
