Why is my cat suddenly scared, hiding, and won't come to me?

my cat was normal yesterday eating and playing as usual. this morning I let her in to eat and she acted like she was scared and was hiding would not come to me. She usually comes to me and wants me to love her and pet her. This morning I could not catch her. I had to go to work but I left her in the house under the bed. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 8 lbs
