Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 12 lbs
Hi. My dog has a spot right below his neck thats itchy and flaky. Well it looks like flea dirt. He did get fleas about a month ago at the groomer. I gave him a bath and frontline flea drop. but I noticed the spot about a week later. He did not have fleas by the time I noticed. I used a flea comb to take the “dirt” off which seemed to work but a few days later its back! is this a hot spot or is there a possible infection he could get from fleas?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Max. The skin lesion appears to be a mild infection. It is likely secondary to scratching from the fleas. If you are still finding flea dirt on him, then he likely still has fleas. Be sure to apply the Frontline exactly as direct. You will need to vacuum your home daily and wash all of his bedding frequently in hot water. You can bath him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to help to soothe the skin. If the lesion does not resolve though, he will need to see his veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
