Dear you About two weeks ago I found a pigeon that had severely sinus infection. As you can see in the first picture one of his sinuses had swollen.I started the treatment with Doxycycline(5 mg once a day) and Vitamins and an eye drop.Today the abscess that had been dried, exited. I washed that area with saline. Now there is hole in that area. Can that hole makes a new infection? Should I close that hole with bandage? And how long should me continue the treatment with Doxycycline? Thank you

Good pictures. Looking at the first picture, I agree that is probably an infection of the infra-orbital sinus. With the other pictures, the situation appears much improved but there is that gaping hole. If the wound can be kept clean for the time needed to heal, there is a fair chance the wound can close. BUT you are correct in the defect might increase the chances of future infections. Increasing the dietary intake of vitamin A (carrots, yellow vegetables) or vitamins could help in the healing process. The other thing to consider is that the bacterial infection that improved might be a secondary infection and the primary cause could be pigeon pox. If you have other birds, observe them for similar lesion on non-feathered areas (face and feet).
