My dog whined, yelled, and wouldn't get up, but is fine now. Why?

Buddy was laying down and whining and yelling and wouldn’t get up. He is okay and snuggling me now but why did he do that? Is he okay? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 10 years and 9 months old

I am sorry Buddy was not feeling well/being vocal. Unfortunately based on the information you provided it is hard to give great information. Dogs can whine due to anxiety, nervous, pain, trauma, and even behavior. If Buddy is acting normal now I would continue to just keep a close eye on him and if he repeats this behavior consider taking him to a vet for a good exam. hope that helps
