Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 76 lbs
Rescued a pit/american bull dog mix. He is 3 years old. Has has difficulty getting up/down. His hind end seems smaller than his front & doesn't always put his right leg down. Last night I poked the muscle in that leg with my toe to get his attention & stop chewing his paw, he yelped loudly & jerked that leg away. His reaction to my nudge was extreme as I just touched him with my toe. He didn't seem to favor the leg after so I"m not sure what I could've hit to cause that reaction

Muscle weakness in the hindlimbs is commonly seen with hip or spinal arthritis and i recommend scheduling xrays to have him assessed as soon as possible. Your vet can also prescribe pain medication to relieve the immediate discomfort until fully investigated
