My puppy recovered from Parvo. Are warm nose and ears normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hey! Nubs got back from the vet a few weeks ago because he has Parvo & he has been doing GREAT! Lately tho, i’ve been noticing his nose & ears are getting a little hot but he’s playing and running around and eating and drinking so mom doesn’t seem to think it’s anything bad but i’m just making sure to save us another $500 trip to the vet if it turns out to actually be something. What do you think?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm so sorry to hear that Nubs had parvovirus but I'm glad to hear he is home and doing well! A warm nose and warm ears are very nonspecific findings and I would pay more attention to his overall attitude, behavior and appetite. (A "dry nose" indicating that a dog is sick is also a myth). It sounds like he is playful, and eating and drinking well, so I would not be concerned. As long as he continues to act normally and have normal urination and bowel movements, and no vomiting, it sounds like he is well on the road to recovery! I hope this is helpful!
