My kitten's ear is hard after a hot grease burn. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 5 days old | 3 lbs

One of my 5 month old kittens named Batman had hot grease splashed on him. It also looks like he jumped into it. My cousin dumped a pan of hot grease outside. He must have thought it was food. He is an outside cat. We try to keep it clean and spray him with nutri vet spray. His foot seems scabbed and dosent walk on it much. It's been about a week since the accident. But most concerning is his hear that his now hard like a kettel chip. Any advice or info I should know?

With burns I would be concerned about secondary infections. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Batman’s wounds. It’s possible that his ear is hard because the tissue is no longer viable and it may need to be removed. He may need antibiotics if there is a secondary infection.
