My budgie's feathers are orange from carrots. How do I clean and bathe them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Thank you so much for your help!! I'm so happy the budgies have started to eat vegetables. I gave them grated carrots. The carrots have caused the fur under their beak to become quite orange, how should I clean it? I don't know how to give them a bath. I'm working on hand taming, I really want a close bond with them but it's hard as we have decided not to clip their wings and there are 2 of them, seems like they have a good bond with each other. How should I get them to bath!?

Do not bath your birds, but offer them a larger shallow dish with water so they can take a bath themselves. There is no need to clean the feathers that turned orange, eventually that will fade, it is not detrimental. Do not clip their wings and be patient. eventually they will be tame.
