hi, so recently there was a dog trainer/behaviour teacher and stuff like that, and she said that you have to ONLY pet your dog when you call him, no attention for no reason as she said, i think its like for a few motnhs like that or maybe longer i dont know really, so i just wanted to ask if that is in any shape or form correct or right, i am really sceptical about everything so i just want to clear up.

She is right . . . to a point. If your dog gets all sorts of "free love," he won't be inclined to work for praise, nor will he value it as much because he can get it any time. When you are in the initial training phase with Nero, praise him only when he does well. An occasional "nice puppy" is okay, but keep affection to a minimum and save it for rewards during work sessions. You will be able to reintroduce praise and petting gradually once he responds to commands in a timely manner.
