Why is my dog vomiting, panting, and licking paws after human food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 11 years and 11 months old

I have a 12 year old Stafford bull terrier, for the past couple weeks he has been spewing and has had nonstop rapid breathing. He has also been licking his paws every chance he gets. I did find out that my roommate has been feeding him human food (bread, butter and biscuits) when I'm not home

I would recommend a full vet check as soon as possible, the panting /respiratory signs are very concerning and may be related to fever, pain, nausea or heart disease. Pancreatitis is quite common following rich, human food and a blood test may be recommended for this
