Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 27 days old | 6 lbs
My shiba puppy has gone on her puppy pad several times on her own volition. However, she also decides to go in another area of the (carpeted) room, too. When we say “No” and then move her to her training pad, she stops peeing. To complicate things, she can hold her pee for hours at a time, so crate training has proved ineffective since she never has to go when we take her out. We’ve only had her a week. Any advice?

She needs time. She is only 3 months and puppies are not trained at 3 months. I would be extremely consistent with the crate. It may seem like it isn't going to work but if given time to work it will. If she does not go when you take her outside (when you crate her) then you put her back in the crate for 20 minutes. She only gets to come out of the crate when she peed or pooped outside. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
