Why is my dog's eye shut, discharging, smelly, and causing pain?

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | spayed | 23 lbs

hi. my dogs eyes have been shut closed for a few weeks now. it comes and goes and switches eyes but today it looks alot worse. it has some sort of discharge coming out of it. i could smell something really bad and i smelled her and figured out it was her eye that smells so horrid. what does this mean? she has also been acting as if she is in pain alot by panting excessively and crying. is this normal ?

No this is not normal and may indicate severe infection. Please don't delay in seeking full veterinary assessment and your vet can then prescribe appropriate pain medications and possibly antibiotics
