Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 4 lbs
hi, my one year old mini Yorkshire terrier won't let me walk him on the street. He's okay with the leash and harness but refuses to walk past our building front perimeter. I've tried giving him treats and carrying him across the street and back so that he knows it's okay but nothing seems to be working. Do you suggest anything?

Paco is doing what he's doing because it works for him. If he puts his brakes on, you give in and carry him. When you are out for your walk and he hesitates, do not stop walking! Keep going, even if he stops. He may even flip over onto his back . . . don't worry. If he got himself over he'll get himself back upright when he sees that it's not having any effect on you. Whatever you do, do not stop when he does. Do not carry him. This is a battle of wills. Once he sees that you mean business, he will behave himself on his walks.
