Why does my new rescue cat get zoomies and run wildly indoors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed

My cat`s behaviour has changed recently. She has been charging about uncontrollably in the large back room in spite of having access to the garden and the surrounding areas which includes fields and trees, at any time of the day or night . Now she is asleep on her chair .I rescued her about two months ago but I know nothing about her back history. She was checked recently by a vet when she was spayed and nothing was causing any health concerns then. She is still kittenish. I do not knowhow old

She may just be doing that to get her energy out. Not all cats like to go outside. I would recommend if you are concerned having your veterinarian take another look at her, but without any other symptoms, this does not seem abnormal. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
