My dog has an oozing skin patch with hair loss. Is it infected?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | 15 lbs

my dog had a round patch missing hair and a scab in the middle. that was saturday/Sunday. now it may be infected? it has a scab but it's seeping out now and it looks more like a crater and it's oozing. The first picture is what it started out as. The second picture is what it looks like now. please what could have done this and is there anyway I can treat it at home?

I would have April examined by a vet. It is not easy to see what is going on from just a picture. It could be a foreign body under the skin, an infected puncture or other wound, a mass, or the start of some other skin disease. The vet will do an examination, and may take a slide impression or needle sample for examination under a microscope. Once they have a better idea as to the cause, they can decide on the best treatment.
