My cat has gooey eyes. Is it URI from the new kitten or food?

Hello! We got a new kitten (3mo) and introduced her to our 1.5 yr old cat. She was having some digestion issues with the food that she was on, and then had a URI. Her URI symptoms passed pretty quickly a few weeks ago, and we recently changed her food (suspecting she has some sort of allergy) which helped with digestion. However, our other cat has been having gooey eyes the past few days--is this the URI symptoms finally showing or could this be related to new food somehow?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cats. I suspect that your adult cat has caught the upper respiratory tract infection from the kitten. A lot of cats can clear the infection on their own. However, if he loses his appetite, becomes lethargic or the symptoms are not resolving, then he will need to see his veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
