My cat won't eat and is losing weight. Is it old age or illness?

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | unneutered

As you can tell ive got a cat. My question is he is very hard to feed. Anything that I give him atm he just has a small nibble then nothing at aĺ. He is losing weight lost. I can only guess that due to his age maybe they just lose interest. Would i be right thinking like this. Tgis is the 2nd week that's it been like this. Before he use to be a pig. Now, it's tge complete opposite. What should I do? Thankyou for your time & help.

I would highly recommend taking Billie to a vet if he has a decreased appetite that is causing weight loss. Typically cats will not stop eating just due to older age. However certain disease like kidney disease, hyperthyroidism and infection/dental disease can cause weight loss. IT is best for him to be examined by a vet. Hope that helps
