How many egg and cheese flavored Charlee Bear treats can my very active German Shepherd have a day? We use them for training and would like to keep using them with them being worked into her diet. She gets IAMS Proactive Health Adult Large Bree’s food. Around 3.5 to 4.5 cups a day (1,225-1,575 calories a day) plus a Hill’s Science Diet Flexi-Stix treat for her joints (30 calories a day). Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 65 lbs

I would calculate around 1,434 kCal per day for an active dog of Molly's weight that is in ideal body condition. The calculation is a starting point and some dogs need more food while others need less. As long as Molly's body condition is ideal and she is not overweight I'd recommend limiting treats to 10% or less of the diet, which for her would be up to about 40 treats.
