Cat stressed by loud music, vocal and panting. How to calm her now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Van | Female | spayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 7.05 lbs

My cat seems to be having an anxiety attack because there was a party in my neighbourhood and they were playing really loud music. But it has stopped now. However my cat is still quite vocal and panting in between. Please give me a few tips to calm her down. I can’t reach a vet right now cause it’s midnight. What can I do to make it better?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Biscuit. I am sorry to hear that she is so stressed. I would keep her in a dark quiet room with you to try and soothe her. If the open mouth breathing persists, then she will need to see a veterinarian as this is a sign of respiratory distress in a cat. It is a stress response as well, but of it does not resolve once she has calmed down, then it is worrisome. I hope this information helps!
