My active canary threw up food and stretched her neck. Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Canary | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 22 days old

My female canary is 5 months old. She was the runt of the litter and spent longer in the nest. We gave her calcivet, Potent Brew and Easybird Supplement. The reasons we did this was as she was puffed up a lot of the time. Eating more often than her siblings and sleeping more. She is moving around as normal but today ı noticed her regurgitate some food once today and she was elongating her neck and turning. She is moving around and singing and eating and is active. Do ı need to be worried

It's possible her crop may have been overfull so she was adjusting it, if she is otherwise acting normal and healthy, however it is best to keep an eye on her just in case. If she continues to bring up food, has other discharge from the mouth or nose, doesn't gain weight or loses it, or begins to act ill, it would be best to have her examined by a vet to rule out issues such as crop infections, illness, etc.
