Pet's info: Dog | Alaskan Malamute | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 4 months old | 94 lbs

Hello! So i've been having this problem with my dog a few times already and I wonder if u could help me prevent this somehow. This is the fourth time he's been having hot spot problems. The vet told me she thinks it's because of the anal glads, and gave me some sort of a pink shampoo. She told me to wash and dry the area 3 times a day. But when I ask how can i help him prevent this she didn't have an answer. So i wonder if u could help me somehow? Thank you!

HI, it is possible that Rem is allergic to something and these secondary bacterial infections are just a consequence. Have you tried an hypoallergenic diet for him ? You could do a trial with an hypoallergenic diet for 2 months and see of this makes any difference. You would need to be very strict with you, just feeding this diet only for the time being. Initially the change will be gradual by mixing the new food to his old diet. Another possibility is to have some blood test done to try to find out to which substances he is allergic to. Hope this helps !
