My 11lb dog has fleas. Is small dog Advecta 3 dose effective?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 11 lbs

My dog weighs 11 pounds. I purchased and applied the 1st dose off advecta 3 for small dogs (5-10 pounds) the medium dog dose is for 11-20 pound dogs. Will this still be effective? If not, what should I do now. He already has fleas. So I want to take care of this as soon as possible!

The small dog dose should be sufficient when she is borderline between small and medium. You should also treat all bedding, sleeping and resting areas with an insecticidal household flea spray as 95% of the flea burden is present as eggs and larvae in the environment and only 5% are adults on your pet. Be sure to treat all in contact animals and treat with a dewormer active against tapeworms as these can be transmitted by fleas
