My dog cries when touched and is lethargic. Is she in pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 36 lbs

Lady (dog) is around 4, and she has been acting oddly this morning. She was totally herself until I went to pet her and she cried a little and started avoiding me, suddenly very lethargic and doesn't want to be touched. So far she hasn't eaten breakfast or gone for water and her leg has been shivering alot. If she doesn't recover before lunch I'm going to ask my mom to come home and we'll try to take her to the vet to get her looked over. Any ideas? Very worried...

Usually these signs are related to sudden onset of pain, very commonly spinal or abdominal pain. Yes I agree with your plan I think if the signs do not resolve spontaneously, a check up would be needed to determine underlying source of pain and treat appropriately.
