Puppy cellulitis: Will outbreaks stop? Hair regrow? Can I breed her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 6 days old | 13 lbs

My beagle is puppy is seven months old. She was diagnosed at 4 months with juvenile cellulitis. Will she always have outbreaks of the big knots all over her body? Will the hair ever return where the wheals were? I’m assuming I shouldn’t breed due to theory of genetic predisposition? Thank you, Terri

Usually once they are grown they no longer have outbreaks. In my experience in the areas of the skin that were badly affected and lost hair, the hair will not come back fully. I wouldn’t breed her due to the stress of breeding and this is a serious condition that I wouldn’t want to take a chance on passing on.
