Why is my dog's poop hard and crumbling after new allergy food?

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 8 months old

Hi I am changing my dogs food due to allergies, he is been taken off chicken and I am trying wainwright’s duck with rice as recommended but his poo is hard and crumbles when I pick it up, will this change in time or do I need to give him something else with it ? Thanks

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Not necessarily. As long as he is doing well and does not seem in discomfort when defecating, it should be ok. I would make sure though that his water intake is appropriate as dry feces can sometimes be a sign of decreased water intake. Good luck and have a great day!
