My male dog is going crazy due to a female in heat. How to calm him?

My male German Shepherd/Doberman mix has been going crazy for a week because one of our female dogs is in heat. What can I do to calm him? He’s not sleeping and shaking 24/7 at this point with constant whining and panting. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 100 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Is there anyone that can take him or the female for you for the next 2-3 weeks? Otherwise the only strong enough medication that would work would have to obtained from your Vet. Drugs like Trazadone, acepromazine, Xanax, etc are prescription only. I would doubt that an over the counter medication will control this for you. I would contact your Vet and see if they will prescribe something over the phone but they may require an exam first.
