My dog has swollen vulva with pimple-like bumps after mating. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 2 years old | 50 lbs

Hello! I noticed that my dog has some blisters that almost look like pimples on her vulva and it looks swollen. This has never happened before and it started after she mated. What could this be? Should we worry? Will it go away on it's own? Is it possible that our outdoor dog has given it to her? He has a few of them on his 'skin' that covers the penis..I dont know what it's called. I hope the pictures aren't inappropriate.

I am sorry to hear about your dog! These look like they could be pustules, or small spots of bacterial infection, perhaps from some minor trauma to the skin during mating which then became infected with bacteria. I would recommend having your vet examine the area, as they may want to prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection.
