My dog ate a paper cupcake holder. Will it pass or should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Molly my 13 yr. old MinPin, has spondylosis deformans with mild megacolon and some urine and fecal incontinence. Yesterday she ate 1/2 of a paper cupcake holder. Today when she went to the bathroom it's thin and not much. Her vet is out of the office tomorrow, do I need to take her to the Vet Hospital? Or will this pass? She weights 10 lbs. Thank you.

Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Molly! Half of a paper cupcake holder isn't very big, and the paper itself should break down in her stomach. Given the small amount she ate, I would suspect this would pass without problem, but because she has some mild megacolon I would keep a close eye on her. If she starts having trouble passing feces or develops other signs such as vomiting, anorexia, or lethargy, then I would take her into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
