Why is my spayed kitten sneezing, has goopy eyes, and a lump?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 16 days old | 4 lbs

I caught a kitten outside and she was fine no fleas perfect! We got her spayed a few weeks ago. We got her back and she was fine. A week or 2 later she got a really bad swollen eye and goop and it was watery. The swollen eye went away with some meds. Then a week ago she started sneezing. She also some time makes crackle noises when she breaths. She still had the goopy eyes. Her stiches are gone. There's a hard spot that appears and dissapers at the bottom of her stomach where her stiches would end.

It sounds like poor little Dove may have a respiratory infection, and she could have an eye infection again. I would take her into the vet tomorrow. The vet can diagnose if she does have a respiratory infection and an eye infection, and can treat her for it. While there, have the vet check out that hard spot around her incision. It could simply be a local tissue reaction to the internal sutures, but it's best to have it checked out by to be safe. I hope this helps!
