My cat's eye scab won't heal from scratching. Can I use human meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 10.2 lbs

Through what I guess is normal scratching with his left rear leg, Nicco has this longtime scab near his left eye. It will heal, but then it will become bloody again. This is off and on... I clean it softly with just water and a cotton ball but can I put any sort of human medicine on it to help close it? Thanks

Poor guy. You can try a very small amount of Neosporin on this wound and clean it daily with sterile saline. However, if it doesn't heal well then a trip to your vet for antibiotics is needed. An antibiotic shot is available for cats that works really well for wounds like this. Best wishes with your cat Nicco and I hope this heals soon! Take care.
