Old dog has yellow eyes, vomiting, won't eat. How to ease suffering?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 14 years and 8 months old

My dog has yellow eyes, skin and gums, fast breathing and doesn't want to eat or drink. On the rare occasion she eats a meal she often vomits afterwards and it is yellow. I cannot afford vet bills, is there anything I can do/give to help ease her suffering? She is 15.

Oh my. I am so sorry but i sounds like Kegsi is in liver failure. I would highly recommend considering humane euthanasia if you can't go forward with proper testing and treatment at this time. It is a good possibility that she has a severe liver condition that has a poor prognosis, or that will require hospitalization stay and IV fluids to treat for. I would suggest taking her in to discuss these options with your vet right away to help prevent any more suffering on her part. : ( I am so sorry again and wish you all the best moving forward with Kegsi.
