My dog has dry eye. What artificial tears can I use now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 20 lbs

Vet has me giving my dog artificial tears solution polyvinyl alcohol 1.4%. It looks like the brand has discontinued it or has a shortage. What should I look for when deciding on a new artificial tear? I can’t find one with the polyvinyl alcohol. (Also taking tacrolite)

I suggest you ask your veterinarian what he recommends, especially seeing that Gabby appears to be suffering from keratitis sicca or a similar condition. Not all artificial tears are suitable, but I am sure he can recommend one for you. Not knowing Gabby's medical history I am not able to give you a recommendation.
